Dr. Fauci is set to step down from his positions as NIAID director, chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, and President Biden's medical adviser.
Dr. Fauci has become an infamous figure thanks to his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
His decision to embrace totalitarian and authoritarian measures to combat the spread of coronavirus earned him many enemies on both sides of the political spectrum.
Now Dr. Fauci is trying to get out in anticipation of Republicans taking control of Congress in November's midterm elections.
