Chicago suffers yet another weekend rife with gun violence

Democrats usually make a huge deal of it when a shooting involves more than two dozen people -- except when the location is Chicago, and it happens nearly every weekend.

Most recently, 25 shootings were reported between Friday and Sunday afternoon in the beleaguered city, and six of those who were shot lost their lives.

One of the fatalities was an eight-year-old girl who was struck in the head and killed as a gunman shot into a group of people on North Long Avenue.

Many of the others were young people aged 18 to 20. Most of the shootings in the city are gang-related, and gang members outnumber police about 10 to one.

New Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) campaigned on defunding police but has actually increased their number since taking office.

He also increased the mayoral protective detail from a total of 90 members when Lori Lightfoot was at the city's helm to the 149 officers currently in place.
