Former President Barack Obama claimed that people's opposition to President Joe Biden's immigration policies is because of racism, not because the policies are problematic for the country.
“Right now, the biggest fuel behind the Republican agenda is related to immigration and the fear that somehow America’s character is going to be changed if, people of darker shades, there are too many of them here,” Obama said in San Diego at a Hispanic realtors' meeting.
"I wish I could be more euphemistic about it except [they’re] not that subtle about it — they’re just kind of saying it,” Obama said. “You hear it on hard-right media, you hear it from candidates and politicians, you hear things like ‘great replacement theory’ — I mean, this is not subtle. Unless we’re able to return to a more inclusive vision inside the Republican Party, it’s going to be hard to get a bill done."
He called the rhetoric "dangerous," even though mass illegal immigration has been responsible for thousands of deaths since Biden took office.
Polls show that Americans want some level of legal immigration, contrary to Obama's accusations. They just know that open borders are a bad idea for many reasons and know it will be the destruction of America to allow anyone who wants to come in whenever they want.
