Conservative talker Larry Elder said he is considering a run for president in 2024, spurred on by encouragement from supporters of his gubernatorial campaign during the Gavin Newsom recall election last year.
“I’ve been urged to consider running for president — and if I do, it won’t be because I want to dethrone Donald Trump, or Ron DeSantis, or [Mike] Pompeo or anybody else,” he said.
Elder made the comments from Iowa, a usual stop for any presidential hopefuls, since its caucuses are the first votes cast in presidential primary elections.
He said he wants to talk about issues he considers important, like the demise of the nuclear family and personal responsibility in our nation.
He also said he thinks Trump will likely get the nomination, but that his candidacy might lead to more debate in the GOP about the issues.
