The House GOP Freedom Caucus slammed the President Joe Biden administration Wednesday for its raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago residence and for seizing the personal cell phone of Freedom Caucus president Scott Perry (R-PA).
The action “exposes how the Biden Administration has dangerously weaponized the U.S. Justice Department against Democrat political opponents," the caucus said in a statement.
The caucus also vowed to investigate abuse and corruption in the FBI and other agencies using a fine-toothed comb.
“Republicans must match this unprecedented action with an equally historic and powerful oversight effort to root out all abuse and corruption within our federal law enforcement,” the statement continued. “The Biden Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation will be put under a microscope and examined piece by piece.”
The White House said on Tuesday via a public briefing that it had not had knowledge of the raid on Trump. “The president was not briefed, was not aware of it. No one from the White House was given a head’s up,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday.
