After saying he would treat the nation of Saudi Arabia as a "pariah" and that there was “very little social redeeming value in the present government in Saudi Arabia” during his campaign in 2019, President Joe Biden has changed his tune and will visit Saudi Arabia this week.
Biden will visit with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) during the visit, and I'm sure the subject of oil will come up.
He tried to claim that the region is more secure now than when former President Trump was in office, but honestly, he just wants to bail out his administration over sky-high gas prices that are contributing to inflation and making lots of other things cost more in a horrible ripple effect.
Biden is now saying he wants to strengthen the "partnership" between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia in a way“going forward that’s based on mutual interests and responsibilities, while also holding true to fundamental American values.”
Critics have said that it makes it look like the U.S. accepts Saudi Arabia's human rights abuses to visit without getting any commitments from them to change.
