Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) acknowledged that there are "a lot of threats to freedom" in the U.S. today under President Joe Biden's leadership, but he was not without hope for the future.
“I think [there are] a lot of threats to freedom, there’s a lot of people that will push back if you stand up and do the right thing. And so when you have a situation like that where they don’t want to hear the truth and you speak the truth, man, you’re gonna take fire. They’re gonna shoot arrows at you,” DeSantis said while speaking at a Moms for Liberty conference.
He went on to say that if people stand their ground and do what is right, they will find support.
“They know they’re being lied to. And if you show them whether you’re just individually involved as a parent, whether you’re running for office, whether you’re involved in any other capacity, if you just show people that you’re willing to fight for them, man, they will walk over broken glass barefoot to have your back,” he said. “That’s what we’ve seen in the state of Florida.”
Florida has become much more Republican since DeSantis was elected in 2018, with a 200,000 GOP vote registration advantage today.
