It used to be that people thought you could pretty much say anything about anyone to anyone--but then there was Alex Jones.
After a number of huge lies and untruths, Jones was ordered to pay almost a billion dollars to a Sandy Hook family for lying about the tragedy, which led to the family being harassed by Jones' audience.
Jones lied that the shooting which killed six adults and 20 people was a hoax and that the people shown on camera were crisis actors that were hired to encourage people to support new gun control laws.
He is now bankrupt, so the family is unlikely to get any payout, but his case has proven the limits of free speech.
You can't just say anything when it's a lie that causes someone else to be harassed and destroys their life.
