Bill Maher warns America about China weaponizing data from TikTok

HBO’s Real Time, host Bill Maher warned Americans during Friday's show about the danger posed by China and the country's ability to collect data on Americans through the social media app TikTok.

During the show, Maher stated, "But there is a lot of information to be gleaned. And just, in general, I know this is the 20th anniversary of the Iraq War and the naivete that we had with Iran taking over that country, it just makes me think about this, just in broad strokes, to not be naive about China. … Are they doing it? Of course, they’re doing it, because they’re the country that puts the Uyghurs in camps, they’re the country that locks you in your apartment if you had COVID, they did crazy things. It’s a president for life, it’s a surveillance state."

Maher failed to mention that China is also our geopolitical opposition and will exploit any weakness to gain an advantage over us.

Congress is currently considering a ban on TikTok, which is owned by Chinese technology firm ByteDance Ltd., meaning that the Chinese Communist Party has access to any data that TikTok collects. 

TikTok has already been banned from all military devices in recognition of the danger the app poses to security.

When even noted leftists like Bill Maher are waking up to the realization that China is a legitimate threat to our nation, it is time for action. Congress can start by banning TikTok and any other data collection conducted by companies connected to the Chinese Communist Party.
