President Joe Biden reportedly skipped a dinner with NATO leaders on Tuesday night to go straight to his hotel in what appeared to be a snub but may have been a needed opportunity to prepare and practice a speech he planned to give on Wednesday.

An official also said his schedule has been busy over the past four days.

Biden had Secretary of State Antony Blinken attend the dinner in his place.

Before ditching the dinner, Biden apparently bragged to Turkish President Recep Erdogan that Biden would be working with him for the next five years -- in other words, that he would win re-election in 2024.

The White House said that Biden was making calls from his hotel room to reassure Vermont Governor Phil Scott, Senator Bernie Sanders, and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell that his administration would give the state funding to deal with severe flooding it recently experienced.

Biden also threw his support behind allowing Sweden to join NATO, even though the country shares a border with Russia.
