Biden reverses record of snubbing Saudis, tries to broker Saudi-Israeli peace deal

President Joe Biden reportedly wants a Saudi-Israeli peace deal by the end of the year despite the fact that he has a reputation for snubbing the Saudis and hasn't spoken to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu since he was re-elected last year.

Biden is making the move because the Saudis normalized relations with Iran with help from China in March, according to Axios.

The Saudis' move makes Biden look bad, because the U.S. is not on good terms with Iran, despite attempts by Biden to negotiate a new or revitalized Iran Nuclear Deal.

Biden has tried to get the Saudis to increase oil production to keep prices from going too high, but they have refused and cut production instead.

The U.S. has been a long-time ally of the Saudis, but Biden had some problems with the country over human rights abuses that led to the strain.

The U.S. was close to brokering a Saudi--Israeli peace deal in the waning months of the Trump administration, but Saudi Arabia backed off once Trump lost the election.
