Biden MIA from debt limit negotiations as possible default grows closer

May 2, 2023

President Joe Biden has made himself scarce from debt negotiations as the possibility of default grows closer, Republicans report.

“The president still hasn’t talked to me,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said while in Israel. “I’m a little like Netanyahu.”

Biden has refused to meet with Netanyahu since the Israeli prime minister was re-elected last year.

Republicans have a plan for dealing with the debt limit--in the House, they have already passed a bill that raises the limit while cutting wasteful spending and programs that really aren't needed during a time of deficit spending.

McCarthy touted the bills passing and challenged, "Now Democrats should do their job."

Multiple Democrats in the House and Senate have said that Biden should negotiate to raise the debt limit, but so far, he's still playing chicken with the nation's credit rating.
