A top immigration official ordered by DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to step down or be fired said he has "no plans to resign" and remains on the job, Fox News reported.
Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Chris Magnus wrote in a letter to senior staff at the agency that he is refusing to resign and is determined to stay on the job, one which he has held for 10 months.
"I want to make this clear: I have no plans to resign as CBP Commissioner. I didn’t take this job as a resume builder. I came to Washington, DC— moved my family here— because I care about this agency, its mission, and the goals of this Administration," Magnus wrote.
Media reports have said that Magnus settled a sexual harassment suit from 2017 while at the agency and fell asleep during commission meetings. House Republicans sent a letter to Mayorkas in early November asking for Magnus to be fired following the reports and amid a record number of illegal immigrants being detained at the border -- more than 2.4 million, which is 37% above the previous year.
We really can't afford to have such a complete incompetent in that position, and Magnus needs to go. Then again, the Biden administration is seemingly full of incompetents, so how is Magnus any different?
