Biden finally visiting border after two years of neglect

After two years of being "too busy" and having other more important priorities, President Joe Biden says he intends to finally visit the U.S. southern border between the U.S. and Mexico next week.

“That’s my intention, we’re working out the details now,” Biden told reporters while in Kentucky with GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Biden hasn't said exactly where along the border he plans to visit, but he will be in Mexico City on the same trip meeting with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Since his inauguration, Biden has refused to take questions about the border and tried to delegate responsibility for it to Vice President Kamala Harris, even though he spent his first days in office reversing all of the Trump-era border controls that had kept illegal immigration under control.

More than 3.5 million people have illegally crossed the border since Biden took office, making the rate about 14 times higher than during former President Donald Trump's administration.

Conservatives blame illegal immigration for spiking rents and depressed wages in recent years.
