Biden fails to invite Netanyahu to visit White House five months into new term

March 13, 2023

President Joe Biden has not invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit the White House in the five months since he began his new term, and Israeli spokespeople are having a hard time explaining why.

A senior Israeli official said over the weekend that the invitation had not been made for "a number of reasons" and that the White House would be better suited to explain why Netanyahu appears to have been snubbed.

Netanyahu made it clear that he would be in Washington in late February or early March, which would have been the time to issue an invitation. None was forthcoming, however.

Biden is reportedly not happy with Netanyahu's dealings with the Palestinians and has kept relations frosty as a result.

He did host Jordan's King Abdullah, however.

It's pretty clear that like his predecessor Barack Obama, he is only paying lip service to Israel's status as an ally.
