Biden approval ratings could spell trouble for 2024

April 17, 2023

President Joe Biden angrily told a reporter in Ireland that he still plans to run for a second term in 2024, but his weak approval ratings could spell trouble for his re-election prospects.

Biden only has a 43% approval rating, which is a nine-point drop from early on in his presidency.

He really hasn't done himself any favors in the two-plus he has been president. Besides a general perception that his mental cognition is declining, Biden has also had a disastrous pullout from Afghanistan, spent trillions that have exacerbated inflation, and let millions of illegal immigrants cross the border without doing much to stop them.

That his approval rating is as high as it is might be the real story here. He has the same approval rating Obama did in 2011 before his re-election, and his approval is a point higher than former President Donald Trump's.

The country looks to be headed toward another Biden--Trump matchup, even though they have to be two of the worst candidates ever.

Unfortunately, it may come down once again to more people hating Trump and feeling indifferent to Biden, even though he has had a miserable presidency so far.
