Biden and Harris abruptly adjust holiday travel plans
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris usually have no time taking some time to relax while taxpayers foot the bill. So, the fact that both of them have canceled their Christmas trips might be an indication that there's an actual problem in Washington.
As lawmakers in Congress scrambled to avoid a government shutdown, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris suddenly changed their Christmas plans and have both decided to stay in Washington, D.C. this Christmas.
Harris had been scheduled to head to the West Coast. She was supposed to land in Los Angeles on Thursday night or Friday morning. However, it was confirmed that Harris would be skipping that trip and remaining in Washington.
Joe Biden also had his plans changed. The president was supposed to be spending his holidays in Delaware but has since returned to the White House.
America's federal government is in some serious trouble right now because lawmakers are having great difficulty doing what every American household is expected to do: balance their budget.
The limit to how much money America can borrow is currently set at $31,4 trillion.
According to the U.S. Sun, "If the debt ceiling issue is not addressed, then it could force the US to default on its debt -- something which has never happened. Defaulting would have an impact on Social Security payments and military salaries. But, experts say it sends a signal to the world that the US cannot pay off its debt."
That seems like something everyone would like to avoid. Let's hope the Washington elites are able to figure it out.
