The Biden administration announced on Friday that telecommunications equipment manufactured by several different Chinese corporations would be banned from importation into the United States, as Just the News reports.
The Federal Communications Commission announced that "communications equipment produced by Huawei Technologies, ZTE Corporation, Hytera Communications, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, and Dahua Technology," would be banned.
FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said the FCC made the decision based on being "committed to protecting our national security by ensuring that untrustworthy communications equipment is not authorized for use within our borders."
Intelligence authorities have been concerned about Chinese-made equipment compromising national security for years.
Friday's decision will finally send a message that the Biden administration is taking those concerns seriously.
The war against Chinese spyware began with former President Donald Trump, and thankfully President Biden hasn't let partisan affairs interfere with protecting the nation.
