Ben Carson says idea of Trump charges 'absolutely absurd' and 'embarrassing'

Dr. Ben Carson, former secretary of Housing and Urban Development under former President Donald Trump, called the idea of charges being filed against his former boss “absolutely absurd” and “embarrassing” during an interview with Newsmax on Sunday.

"When you look at all the problems that we have right now with the economy, with almost 200 Americans dying every day from fentanyl, with human trafficking, with crime, the list just goes on and on. This is what you’re going to be dealing with?" Carson asked.  "It’s absolutely absurd. It’s embarrassing. And, you know, I talked to people from other countries all the time. And they’re saying, “What’s happening to your country?” It’s very hard to watch this."

This is the kind of corruption in government that brought Venezuela down, he went on to say.

New York state District Attorney Alvin Bragg has signaled that he may indict Trump over a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels, even though the FEC and Justice Department decided not to pursue any action against him over it.

Bragg's predecessor Cyrus Vance, Jr. also declined to prosecute Trump on these charges.
