Beauty experts weigh in on photo showing Melania Trump's rumored hair extensions

Former and future first lady Melania Trump has always garnered attention for her looks, and the media is back on the beat as she prepares to return to Washington, D.C., for another stint in the White House.

According to the Daily Mail, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance recently shared a photo that included a shot of Mrs. Trump from behind, and social media users and the media quickly dialed in on her apparent hair extensions. 

The photo was taken at the opening of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), as President-elect Donald Trump was honored with ringing the opening bell after being named Time's "Person of the Year."

"Ready to ring the bell on the New York Stock Exchange. President Trump will lead a great American comeback!" Vance wrote on his X account.

The photo was clearly taken from his view behind the president-elect and his wife.

While for most Americans, it doesn't matter what Melania Trump does or doesn't do with her hair, but given her modeling background, fashion and entertainment reporters and "experts" quickly weighed in on what appared to be hair extensions in her hair.

London-based hairstylist and founder of luxury wig brand Wigonia Julia North confirmed that it appeared the incoming first lady was sporting extensions in her hair.

"Looking at that specific photo, yes, those appear to be tape-in or beaded-row extensions," North told the Daily Mail.

"You can spot the telltale signs where the natural hair meets the extension pieces, particularly visible in the mid-sections," adding, "I'd say she's likely wearing premium quality, European human hair extensions, probably 18 to 20 inches in length."

Experts in the realm of beauty and hair didn't trash Melania for the add-ins, and many of them complimented the technique used and added that it's super common for public figures to do so.

"This is actually a very common choice for public figures because it allows for versatile styling while maintaining natural movement," North explained, referencing the particular technique used for Melania's hair.

"The color work is excellent though - they're perfectly matched to her natural shade, which is crucial for seamless blending," she added.

Hair extensions or not, Melania Trump is widely considered one of the most beautiful and most classy first ladies in modern American history.
