Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) pushed back against Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on CNN Friday because of comments the congresswoman made that have amounted to disinformation about Israel.
Auchincloss said:
Outlier Democratic lawmakers who spread disinformation and falsely conflate Hamas with the Palestinian people do not speak for the Democratic Party. The leader of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, the leader of House Democrats, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the leader of Senate Democrats, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), they are the ones who represent the Democratic Party’s position on standing with Israel. And, in that vein, it is forceful and unequivocal. Israel has a right and a responsibility to defend itself against terrorists who have in their charter the destruction of the Jewish state and the murder of Jews. And the United States has a responsibility to stand with our fellow democracy in the Middle East.
His comments came after he observed Tlaib denouncing President Joe Biden's position on Israel, which was brutally and violently attacked by Hamas and is now defending itself against the assault.
Tlaib also continued to claim that Israel bombed a hospital in Gaza even though evidence shows that the devastation originated in Gaza, either intentionally or unintentionally.
Footage showed the hospital still standing after Gaza's health ministry claimed it was destroyed and said that 500 civilians were killed.
Tlaib also led a protest at the Cannon Office Building that some Republicans are comparing to the Capitol breach of Jan. 6, 2021.
