 February 14, 2024

At least one person is dead and many more are injured after a vehicle crashed into the emergency room at St. David's North Austin Medical Center in Texas on Feb. 13.

The driver, identified as 57-year-old Michelle Holloway, passed away as a result of the incident.

At least three adults and two juveniles were taken to different hospitals to be treated, although some reports indicate that a minimum of ten people were injured in the ordeal.

Police officers held a briefing on the incident and explained:

"Some of their injuries were serious, but not life-threatening," Officer Ariel Crumes said. "Holloway was later pronounced deceased at North Austin Medical Center."

Assistant Chief Wes Hopkins said the incident could have been even more deadly than it already was, noting:

We were very grateful it turned out to be a lower number of patients. I would say that the Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department, and Austin-Travis County EMS train for this kind of incident. However, being at a healthcare facility, we had medical providers on staff. It was a really interesting situation.
