AOC dispels social media rumors that she's pregnant

 December 25, 2024

While Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) routinely makes headlines for a variety of reasons, a pregnancy is probably the last one on anyone's news bingo card.

In response to a social media user who suggested she might be pregnant because the lawmaker appeared to be "glowing," AOC dispelled the rumors in an update across her social media channels, saying definitively that she is not pregnant, the Daily Mail reported.

In her video message, posted to her Instagram account, AOC revealed that she had been asked by a Republican member of Congress if she was pregnant in recent days.

"Everyone keeps asking me if I'm pregnant," AOC said in the video post.

"I'm not pregnant guys," she said, quashing the rumor that had popped up prior to the November election. "I had a lot of food at Thanksgiving, OK? It happens."

Though she denied the rumors, several social media detectives aren't convinced. Many have analyzed videos of her speaking recently and declaring that either she's pregnant, or she gained an unusual amount of weight over the past month or two.

"AOC is pregnant, based on what I see in this latest video she posted. Either that or she’s inexplicably gained A LOT of weight. If she’s preggers, why doesn’t AOC announce it? It’s great to bring life into this world. Especially with Trump winning," one social media user wrote.

Based on the video post, many users noted some details that could hypothetically point to someone being pregnant.

"The high was 53 today in DC. She’s dressed for below zero weather. Yeah she’s hiding something," an X user observed.

Another X user wrote, "If she is pregnant, I hope this will be a turning point for her. Having children often makes you reassess everything around you."

Others believe she could be pregnant and simply won't admit it due to her stance on abortion.

Some on social media partially defended her, saying she might not want to announce because it's simply not anyone else's business.

Only time will tell if the situation changes.
