Andrew Yang told Newsmax on Monday that he was supporting Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) for president in 2024 and suggested that President Joe Biden "shouldn't have run this time."

"Joe Biden is not well-positioned to defeat Donald Trump," Yang, who was a candidate in 2020 but eventually backed Biden, said.

Yang appeared at a rally in New Hampshire and said that if Biden can't get at least 80% in the contest, it was a very bad sign.

He said that he wanted to see more competition among Democrats for the nomination.

It is unusual for there to be an active primary when the president is an incumbent, however.

Yang formed the Forward Party after the last election, so it is not surprising that he doesn't hold the same views as many Democrats.
