Andrew Cuomo facing new lawsuit in connection to New York nursing home deaths

 April 9, 2023

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is facing another lawsuit in relation to nursing home deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic for which he is accused of responsibility.

The New York Post reported that the lawsuit claims that Cuomo and other officials demonstrated "deliberate indifference toward nursing home residents and caused 15,000 avoidable COVID-19 deaths."

The lawsuit was filed by Sean Newman whose parents died in early 2020 at nursing homes at the outbreak of the pandemic.

Cuomo ordered New York's nursing homes to receive patients who had been treated for Covid-19. That order was later rescinded but the damage was done and a later report from Attorney General Letitia James found that the death toll had been undercounted.

Newman's lawsuit stated, "It was not only Governor Cuomo’s pride that was leading to thousands of needless deaths, but his unmitigated greed as well." This claim is in relation to Cuomo's posturing about his leadership during the pandemic that he intended to use to sell a book.

Cuomo was also shaping up to be a massive player in the Democrat Party before his scandals doomed his career. Now he will have to answer for the thousands of deaths for which there has yet to be accountability.
