American Eagle pilot's final words before boarding fatal flight revealed

 February 1, 2025

Jonathan Campos, the pilot of the doomed American Airlines jet that crashed over Washington, D.C. last week, told his family how much he was looking forward to being together on a cruise in the near future just before he climbed aboard the fatal flight.

It was the last message he would ever send his family.

Campos' final words were revealed by his heartbroken uncle, John Lane, shortly after the tragedy.

Lane said that the 24-year-old was "living his dream" with a career as a pilot. Campos had reportedly been in love with toy planes since he was a boy.

"He was such a good kid," Lane said. "I spoke to him as he was boarding the plane. We spoke for 10 minutes. I can't believe it. He sounded really happy."

"He was looking forward to going on a cruise next week on the Icon of the Seas, the cruise ship," Lane added. "Ten family members were going to fly to Florida to take the trip with him. It was going to be a big celebration."

In addition to Campos, First Officer Samuel Lilley also passed away.

Lilley was 29, newly engaged, and only a few months away from a promotion to captain.

Please pray for all of the victims and their families.
