Airline passenger suffers 'horror' death during flight from Thailand to Germany

Airline passengers on a flight from Bangkok to Munich lived through an experience this week that most will unfortunately never forget, as they witnessed the horrific death of a fellow traveler as the Daily Mail reports.

Witnesses recounted that the 63-year-old man at issue boarded the Lufthansa Airbus A380 in Thailand just before midnight, and many noticed that he did not look well upon entering the aircraft.

Though the man was reportedly seen sweating profusely and struggling to breathe as he entered the aircraft cabin, his wife assured crew members that he was okay to proceed with the trip and was simply exhausted from having rushed through the airport in order to catch the flight on time, as Sky News explained.

Speaking to Blick soon after the tragic events unfolded, passenger Karin Missfelder, herself a nursing specialist from Switzerland, said that she realized quickly that the man needed medical assistance, causing her to summon a flight attendant and suggest that he needed to be checked by a doctor.

Martin Missfelder, another traveler who was present on the plane, indicated that the afflicted passenger's condition soon went downhill, and he was seen spitting blood into a bag.

Not long after, large quantities of blood began gushing forth from the man's mouth and nose, causing a panic among those seated nearby.

In Martin Missfelder's recollection of what happened next, “It was absolute horror, everyone was screaming.”

According to Missfelder, the ill man ultimately spewed “litres of blood,” which were sent flying all over the aircraft's cabin walls.

Witnesses indicated that members of the flight crew made their best efforts to resuscitate the man for roughly 30 minutes, though he was ultimately declared dead.

Subsequently, the plane reversed course and returned to Thailand roughly an hour and a half into what was meant to be a 12-hour flight.

Mr. Missfelder lamented the sight of the deceased man's wife having to proceed through the custom's process on her own following her husband's shocking death and remarked on how difficult it must have been for her “enduring all the formalities.”

Commenting on the tragic incident after the fact, a Lufthansa spokesperson told the Mail, “Although immediate and comprehensive first aid measures were taken by the crew and a doctor on board, the passenger died during the flight.”

The airline's representative went on, “Our thoughts are with the relatives of the deceased passenger. We also regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers of this flight.”

Impacted travelers were reportedly booked on different flights in the wake of the harrowing event, though it is unlikely that anyone who was on board will ever forget the grisly scenes that they witnessed on that fateful journey.
