'Absolute trainwreck': Cruz blames Biden poll numbers on failed policies

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) looked at President Joe Biden's latest poll numbers and said it's more than just people thinking he's too old to be president again.

Cruz spoke to podcaster Megyn Kelly on Monday and blamed the dismal polling squarely on Biden's failed policies.

"I think these poll numbers are a manifestation of the reality of the Biden record, that the last three years under Joe Biden had been an absolute trainwreck," Cruz said.

The newest Siena College/New York Times poll showed former President Donald Trump beating Biden in five of six key swing states that Biden won in 2020, and all but one of those is outside the poll's margin of error.

"If it were straight up based on the merits, I think the numbers would be an even bigger landslide than that because the Biden record is terrible," Cruz said. "It's why Biden, the Democrats, their strategy is simple: Attack Trump."

It doesn't seem to be working, however; even facing four indictments and 91 separate charges, Trump is seen as the better alternative in a Trump-Biden race. At least for now.
