A majority of Republicans believe Donald Trump is the 'strongest candidate' in 2024

April 23, 2023

A new poll from The Economist/YouGov found that a majority of Republicans believe former President Donald Trump is the “strongest candidate” that the Republican Party can put up against President Joe Biden in 2024.

The survey asked respondents, "Do you think that Donald Trump is the strongest candidate that Republicans could nominate for president in 2024?"

The survey found that a majority 53% of respondents believe Donald Trump is the man with the best chance to win in 2024. Thirty-one percent of respondents disagreed, with a further 16% of respondents indicating they were undecided.

However, the real interesting discovery this poll made was that Democrats don't believe in Biden as much as Republicans do in Trump.

The poll found that just 44% of respondents believe that Joe Biden is the strongest candidate that the Democrat Party can put forward in 2024.

Many Democrats have openly questioned Biden's viability in 2024 and some are even calling for him to step aside in favor of a stronger candidate. There is a strong possibility that Trump could face someone besides Biden in next year's election.
