CA law enforcement officials refuse to enforce Trump's federal immigration push

 January 24, 2025

Donald Trump has already done a lot during his young second term, having signed several executive orders since his inauguration on Jan. 20.

One of the areas on which Trump is focusing his early efforts is a crack down on illegal immigration. In fact, he's promised to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in American history, according to Yahoo.com.

Unfortunately for Trump, it doesn't look like everyone is willing to cooperate with him.

Soon after the president signed his executive orders, law enforcement officials in Stockton and San Joaquin County announced that they would follow California law and would NOT help United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement with raids in the area.

Instead, the Stockton Police Department said it would focus on relationship-based policing and "ensuring everyone's well-being, regardless of immigration status."

"We take pride in our approach to not enforcing immigration laws," the Stockton police department said in a statement. "Consistent with our established policy, we will not assist any federal agency solely in enforcing immigration laws. We believe doing so would undermine the trust and safety we have worked hard to build within our community."
