CNN's Anderson Cooper presses VP Harris on immigration: 'Is a border wall stupid?'
Vice President Kamala Harris, who was appointed by President Joe Biden as his "border czar," has barely lifted a finger as far as efforts to get control of the immigration crisis at the southern U.S. border.
The border crisis has spiraled out of control for years under Biden and Harris, and they couldn't have cared less. But now, with an election less than two weeks away, the subject -- a hot topic with voters -- is suddenly receiving their attention.
Even so, according to Fox News, Harris is still stumbling when it comes to questions about border security, as was evidenced recently during a town hall event with CNN's Anderson Cooper.
Harris was questioned by Cooper on her real thoughts on a border wall, something she relentlessly criticized during her time in office.
"Let's talk about this compromise bill that you want to pass if you are elected. You said that's going to be a priority. It includes $650 million in funding for the border wall. That's something Republicans wanted that was part of the compromise. Under Donald Trump, you criticized the wall more than 50 times. You called it ‘stupid, useless, and a medieval vanity project,'" Cooper said.
"Is a border wall stupid?" Cooper asked.
Not surprisingly, the answer, which caught Harris off guard, triggered her annoying, awkward cackle while she scrambled in her mind to come up with an answer.
"Let's talk about Donald Trump on that border wall," Harris said while cackling.
"So, remember, Donald Trump said Mexico would pay for it. Come on, they didn't. How much of that wall did he build? I think the last number I saw was about 2%. And then when it came time for him to do a photo op, you know, where he did it? In the part of the wall that President Obama built," she said.
Of course, her answer was completely asinine, as Trump fought tooth-and-nail for as much border wall he could possibly get.
Shockingly, Cooper pressed her on the issue, saying, "But you agreed to a bill that would earmark $650 million to continue building that."
Suddenly, Harris admitted that she does, in fact, care about border security, though she wouldn't repeat the words "border wall" in her answer.
"I pledge that I am going to bring forward that bipartisan bill to further strengthen and secure our border. Yes, I am, and I'm going to work across the aisle to pass a comprehensive bill that deals with a broken immigration system," Harris said.
Harris, at a loss for any kind of substance in her answer, went on to bash Trump and claim he "didn't actually do much of anything" on the issue."
