Intelligence sources say Iran hacked Trump campaign, offered info to Biden-Harris
Intelligence sources at the FBI say hackers in Iran were able to infiltrate the campaign of former President Donald Trump and that they offered documents and sensitive information to people close to President Joe Biden's campaign.
Trump addressed the reports at a rally on Wednesday:
Biden is working with Iran and Iran doesn't exactly like me because they were ready to make a deal, except we had an election that was rigged and stolen.
The FBI did not have any evidence that anyone responded to the unsolicited emails from the hackers, which were sent in June and July before Biden dropped out of the race.
None of the information has surfaced so far.
The emails "contained an excerpt taken from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump´s campaign as text in the emails," a statement by the FBI and other agencies said.
They were part of an ongoing effort by Iran to influence the U.S. election, which the agencies condemned. The Justice Department is reportedly preparing charges against the hackers.
