TN Man Charged Over Social Media Threats Against Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Barack Obama
A 37-year-old Tennessee man has been charged with making threats over social media against former President Barack Obama as well as President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
The man, identified as Kyl Alton Hall, was charged with two counts of threatening a sitting president or vice president and one count of a threat to a former president.
The penalties for these charges are serious, as each individual count has a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison.
Hall posted on social media that he would "kill, assassinate, shoot, and crash the plane” of Biden while making similar threats against Obama and Harris.
It's likely these social media posts were prompted by Hall's reaction to the Democratic National Convention at which Obama, Biden, and Harris all spoke.
There's been a special emphasis on dealing with threats to presidents ever since the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump who was millimeters from death in a gunman's attack at an outdoor rally month.
