Jack Smith Throws in Towel on Bringing Trump to Trial Before November Election
Special counsel Jack Smith will no longer be seeking a "mini-trial" to present evidence in former President Donald Trump's federal election interference case before the general election in November.
Smith's decision to throw in the towel on bringing evidence against Trump ahead of Election Day is a veritable death rattle for his case against the former president.
This is also horrible news for Democrats, as none of Smith's evidence and testimonies related to Trump's federal indictment will be presented to the public, either.
Democrats had hoped that even without a conviction, the investigation would reveal helpful material for them to use against Trump in November.
So far, Trump has only been vindicated in his contentions about the nature of the legal actions against him, and the justice system has shown itself to be utterly corrupt.
Smith rose to national fame because of his indictments of Trump, but now with this latest failure, Democrats may not look so kindly on him in the future.
