Federal judge blocks Biden's new Title IX rules in mulitple states, Supreme Court rejects request

The Biden administration experienced a massive setback earlier this week after a federal judge blocked new protections set forth under the Title IX rule.

According to The Epoch Times, the administration's new rules blocked by a federal judge offered LGBTQ students protections "that barred federally funded schools and colleges from discriminating on the basis of 'gender identity.'"

Multiple attorneys general from red states across the country fought to have the new protections blocked, with several of them scoring early victories. The block first affected four states, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, and Idaho.

While that news was bad enough for the Biden administration, it became much worse on Friday after the administration was blocked by the U.S. Supreme Court after it requested that the new protections be enforced in multiple red states.

In a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling Friday, the high court blocked the administration's request that the protections, established earlier this year in April, be enforced.

The Daily Wire noted:

The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 opinion posted late Friday, has blocked the Biden Administration’s Title IX rules that would force schools that receive public funding to allow trans-identifying males into girls’ bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports.

According to Fox News, the request from the administration would have also had a profound impact on women and girls across the nation. The outlet said:

The request would have permitted biological men in women’s bathrooms, locker rooms and dorms in 10 states where there are state-level and local-level rules in place to prevent it.

The Supreme Court, in an unsigned order, rejected the emergency request and clearly explained why it made the decision.

"On this limited record and in its emergency applications, the Government has not provided this Court a sufficient basis to disturb the lower courts’ interim conclusions that the three provisions found likely to be unlawful are intertwined with and affect other provisions of the rule," the high court wrote.

Not surprisingly, all three liberal justices dissented. Conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch joined the liberal justices in dissenting.

Riley Gaines, and outspoken critic of the Biden administration's attempts to protect males who compete in women's sports, weighed in on the ruling.

"Not all Supreme Court justices know what a woman is, but today enough did, and that's a win worth celebrating. This is a win for women, free speech, the rule of law and common sense. Onward," Gaines said after the high court published its ruling.

While the win is legally temporary, it'll be interesting to see what happens next.
