Schumer signals he's ok with dumping Biden from the 2024 ticket: Report

 July 11, 2024

President Joe Biden is losing support at a rapid pace within the ranks of the Democratic Party.

That was made extremely evident many times over in the past week, but especially recently as it was reported by Axios that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is apparently fine with dumping Biden off the 2024 ticket.

Like many other cowardly Democrats, as long as the cameras are rolling, Schumer will stand firm for Biden and support his 2024 campaign. But behind the scenes, Schumer is reportedly singing a much different tune.

Axios noted:

Over the last 12 days, Schumer has been listening to donors' ideas and suggestions about the best way forward for the party, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The outlet noted that Schumer is one of a handful of Democrats with enough street cred to have the ability to pressure Biden into getting out of the race. Others would include Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Presumably because he was scared out of his political mind after Axios ran the story, Schumer issued a statement on the issue.

"As I have made clear repeatedly publicly and privately, I support President Biden and remain committed to ensuring Donald Trump is defeated in November," Schumer said, in one of the most generic statements possible that leaves open all kinds of possibilities.

So far, eight House Democrats have called on Biden to drop out of the race, by whatever means, and swamp with someone better suited to running against Trump and, ultimately, running the country.

Many in his part were waiting to see how Biden performed in a post-NATO conference on Thursday night -- a press conference dubbed his "big boy" press conference, which was mocked across social media.

As one could have expected, the press conference was essentially another disaster as Biden mumbled and stuttered through an hour of questions from journalist chosen by the White House.

Early in the presser, he referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as "Vice President Trump."

The long story short is that Biden did not prove on Thursday evening that he has what it takes to answer the demands of the U.S. presidency, and additional calls for him to drop out will likely continue to roll in.

Only time will tell how long he lasts.
