Trump leading DeSantis by double digits in California: Poll

Former President Donald Trump now has a double-digit lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) according to the latest California GOP primary poll.

Trump had 44% support over DeSantis, who had 26% in the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies survey taken days before DeSantis launched his presidential primary run.

We won't know whether DeSantis's launch moved any voters in his direction until after the next round of polling, but Trump did gain 15 points in the poll since February, while DeSantis lost 11 points.

In February, DeSantis led Trump 37% to 29%, so the 26-point swing in Trump's direction is significant.

Surprisingly, Trump gained support with Republicans at the same time the media was pummeling him over a number of issues--including a defamation suit by E. Jean Caroll.

Ironically, DeSantis may need to be more hated by the left in order to wrestle the nomination from Trump.
