30 more shot, 3 dead in Brandon Johnson's Chicago

September 26, 2023

It does not seem like Mayor Brandon Johnson (D), who replaced Lori Lightfoot (D) in January, is having any better luck stopping the gun violence in Chicago than she did.

Another 30 people were shot in the city over the weekend, three of them fatally, on Johnson's watch.

One of the fatalities was an 86-year-old man who merely went out to his truck to get something on Saturday morning around 10 a.m. and was shot while doing so.

Even in broad daylight, people in certain parts of the city aren't safe.

In fact, two of the three fatal shootings occurred in broad daylight -- the second was a drive-by as the victim sat in his vehicle on Sunday morning.

Despite some of the strictest gun laws in the country and the fact that politicians have managed to close all legal gun stores in the city, 433 people have already been shot this year there. And there's no end in sight.
