21 more shot, 4 killed in Lori Lightfoot's Chicago over weekend

January 17, 2023

The new year is proving to be not much different from the old one in regard to shootings in the city of Chicago.

Last weekend, at least 21 people were shot and four were killed in the city, which has long been run by Democrats and now limps along under Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D).

Even when it's the middle of winter, which in Chicago means icy wind and sometimes ice and snow, the shootings continue unabated.

Three of the four fatal shooting victims were men in their 20s, and the fourth was a 41-year-old woman.

Already in the first 15 days of 2023, 23 people have been killed in the city.

There were 4,200 shootings in 2022, and 723 of them were fatal, according to WBEZ.
