Pair of current, former lawmakers from France, Mexico dies on same day

 June 7, 2024

It's a sad time around the world as two of the world's senators have passed away on the very same day.

One was Jean-Paul Émin, who served in France's Senate from 1989 to 2008, representing the region of Ain.

Émin was a member of the Republican Party, Union for a Popular Movement Group, and the Independent Republicans Group. He passed away a few days before celebrating his 85th birthday.

In Mexico, Senator-elect for Tabasco Rosalinda López Hernández has passed away at 56, according to her brother.

López Hernández was part of one of the most influential families in Mexican politics.

She was the sister of the former Secretary of the Interior Adán Augusto López, and had been married to the governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón, since 2013.

Adán Augusto López said that "I stay with her smile, her commitment and her generosity. Rest in peace!"

Prayers go out to all of the family and fans of these very influential people.
